- This is the 18th event in the Backlash series from WWE.
- The name “Backlash” signifies the fallout as WWE deals with the fallout from that year’s WrestleMania event.
- For the last two years, the event went by the name WrestleMania Backlash, but it has now reverted back to “Backlash” name this year.
- This is the first event that WWE will hold in Puerto Rico since 2005 when they held New Year’s Revolution event at the same venue.
- Grammy Award Winner Bad Bunny was earlier supposed to play the host of the Backlash 2023 event. However, he will now be in a street fight against Damian Priest.
- WWE announced the event on March 8, 2023, and the tickets went on sale on March 24, 2023.
- The event was sold out by March 28.
