The historic show WWE Clash In Italy PPV 5/31/26 is set On Sunday, at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy. This event marks WWE’s first-ever Premium Live Event to be held in Italy. The hectic May schedule concludes for WWE with the upcoming Clash in Italy in Europe.
WWE has announced a stacked lineup for its debut event in the country. The continent has long been a hotbed for wrestling talent and passionate fans, making every WWE show there feel electric. Similar to WrestleMania in the United States, the first hour of the PLE will be simulcast on ESPN. Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes will take on ‘The Ring General’ Gunther with the title on the line. The match was set-up after back-to-back attacks from Gunther, who asked for a title match at the PLE, but refused to sign the contract, until Royce Keys stepped up to take the fight. The two then battled in a number one contenders match where Gunther emerged victorious, thus securing his spot against the Champion in Italy. This match will be among the two opening matches of the first hour that will air on ESPN in the US. It was also confirmed during the go-home edition of SmackDown that this match will open the show.
Despite the loss at Backlash earlier this month, Jacob Fatu refused to back down and acknowledge the World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns as his Tribal Chief. Fatu’s continued attack, even targeting the Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) has forced Reigns’ hand to finish the feud once and for all. However, Fatu is looking to take it all, as not only the World title but the Tribal Combat match will also be contested for the title of the Tribal Chief. Fatu has made it clear that he wants everything Reigns has, and it is now on Reigns to stop Fatu and go 3-0 in Tribal Combat matches. Following another attack during their return on the May 8 episode of WWE SmackDown by Jade Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin on Rhea Ripley, the WWE Women’s Champion was left seeking payback. The attack marked Jade’s first appearance since losing the title to Ripley at WrestleMania 42.
The following week, Cargill challenged Ripley to a title rematch, which Ripley accepted upon her return during the May 22 edition of SmackDown, officially setting up their WrestleMania title rematch. Cargill recently pinned Ripley in a six-woman tag match at SNME and now looks to repeat the same this Sunday. During the May 23 edition of SNME, Becky Lynch took on Sol Ruca in a non-title match. However, due to her underhanded tactics, the match ended in a disqualification as Becky pulled the referee right in front when Ruca was going for the Sol Snatcher. The finish and the attack afterwards by Becky infuriated SmackDown GM Nick Aldis, who passed on GM Adam Pearce’s message to Becky. The message that Lynch will now have to defend her Women’s Intercontinental title against Ruca at Clash in Italy. This marks Ruca’s first PLE appearance as she takes on one of the greats and looks to capture her first title on the main roster.
Brock Lesnar feels like a strong candidate for a babyface turn as his career approaches its final stretch. Despite returning to feud with Oba Femi, fans still seem ready to support Lesnar during a farewell-style run. If Paul Heyman eventually betrays him again, the promotion could fully position “The Beast Incarnate” as a sympathetic veteran fighting through one last major challenge. That path could eventually lead to a blockbuster showdown against Gunther at SummerSlam. Orton, despite not being on TV for several weeks, could be the X-factor at WWE Clash in Italy. Whether he returns in Turin and costs Rhodes the WWE title, causes a disqualification finish so that Rhodes retains, or does not show up at all, his unseen presence looms large, making Gunther vs. Rhodes a difficult match to predict. The closing image of WrestleMania 42 Saturday saw Randy Orton standing with the WWE Championship above his shoulders as a bloodied Cody Rhodes lay at his feet. It has been over a month, and Orton has not been seen since that moment, with his post-match attack on Rhodes receiving no initial follow-up. Turin could be the moment everything finally comes to a head.
The Bloodline remains the most unpredictable act in WWE heading into Clash in Italy. Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu are set to collide in Tribal Combat, and it feels almost impossible for the faction to remain united after the dust settles. If Fatu defeats Reigns and captures the World Heavyweight Championship, “The Samoan Werewolf” could immediately embrace a more dangerous heel role. His violent tendencies already separate him from previous Bloodline leaders, and championship power may only push him further into chaos. At the same time, Roman Reigns turning heel again also feels realistic. “The Tribal Chief” has always been driven by ego and control, and the promotion could easily revisit that darker side of his character. ‘The Queen’ Charlotte Flair turning heel would surprise nobody, but that does not make it any less likely. “The Queen” naturally gravitates toward arrogance and superiority, especially when championship opportunities are involved.
Alexa Bliss has quietly become one of the most suspicious figures in the Women’s division. While she has worked alongside Charlotte Flair recently, their partnership feels more like an alliance of convenience than one built on genuine trust. Bliss has historically thrived as a manipulative heel, and Clash in Italy could become the perfect stage for her to betray Flair or even target Rhea Ripley after the title match. A turn would instantly place Bliss back into the championship spotlight heading into SummerSlam season. Becky Lynch may be at her best as “The Man,” but fans have always connected most strongly with her as a babyface. Her recent heel run has worked well, particularly in elevating younger talent like Sol Ruca. However, a humiliating loss at Clash in Italy could finally force Lynch to reflect on her recent behavior. The promotion has often portrayed Becky spiraling after setbacks, but this time, the company may choose redemption instead of bitterness.
