After delivering more than 50 episodes throughout 2025, Friday Night SmackDown will wrap up the year with its December 26 broadcast. This will also mark the final two-hour episode of the Blue Brand for the foreseeable future, as the show is set to return to a three-hour format beginning in 2026.

Tonight’s WWE SmackDown (December 26, 2025) promises to be a news-packed finale for the year as WWE heads into 2026. The episode was pre-taped last week, so spoilers have already surfaced. The show is set to emanate from the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and will feature top names from the Blue brand. WWE has announced a singles match, along with the US title open challenge and the return of Drew McIntyre, who was suspended last month. WWE pre-taped the December 26 episode of SmackDown on December 19 at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, due to the Christmas holiday season.

During this week’s show, the promotion announced multiple matches and segments for next week’s show, which will be the final SmackDown of 2025, as WWE looks ahead to 2026. It will also be the final two-hour show of SmackDown as the Blue brand once again transitions to the three-hour format. Joe Hendry is set to make his SmackDown in-ring debut next week as he is set to take on The Miz in a singles match. This week, Miz asked for the match himself in a backstage segment with General Manager Nick Aldis, seeking revenge after being humiliated by him at John Cena’s retirement show earlier this month.

Drew McIntyre’s suspension from Friday Night SmackDown has officially ended, and he’ll mark his return by appearing on next week’s episode. As part of his reinstatement, McIntyre was promised a future title match against Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, with the condition that Rhodes cannot even lay afinger on him before the championship bout. Fans can expect to hear McIntyre’s thoughts on that upcoming title opportunity next week. WWE has started pre-taping matches and segments to give talents time-off before their big annual winter holiday tour. On Monday in Hershey, Pennsylvania, WWE pre-taped many matches & segments, likely parts of the November 26 show of SmackDown, and will likely pre-tape the upcoming November 22 show of Raw this Friday in Michigan.

United States Champion Ilja Dragunov’s business with Tommaso Ciampa appears to be over after the champ teamed up with Carmelo Hayes to beat DIY last week. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss ran off Nia Jax and Lash Legend last week after the latter duo defeated WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Asuka and Kairi Sane in a non-title match. Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY are getting the next title shot against the Kabuki Warriors, which is scheduled for the Jan. 5 episode of Raw. Michin tried to get some payback on WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill last week by attacking her with a kendo stick, but it’s only delaying the inevitable.
