AEW Grand Slam heads to Brisbane, Australia, airing on February 15, 2025, from the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. The event will air on a same-day tape delay at 10:30 ET on TNT and MAX, following NBA All-Star Saturday coverage.
Mariah May defends the AEW Women’s Championship against Toni Storm in a major title clash, while Mercedes Mone puts her TBS Championship on the line against Harley Cameron. AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada faces Buddy Matthews, and Will Ospreay teams up with Kenny Omega to take on Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher. Plus, Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli battle Adam Copeland and Jay White in a brutal Brisbane Brawl. Arkady is the ring announcer for the night, and the Collision broadcast team is Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness. Arkady introduced AEW’s Tony Khan, and the crowd had mixed reactions, with some cheering and others booing. Khan expressed that it was a dream come true to be there and promised it would be one of the greatest nights in AEW history. He also assured the crowd that it wouldn’t be AEW’s last time in the area, which earned a big cheer and helped Khan win over the crowd.
The crowd was hyped, chanting “Holy sh–!” even before the bell rang. Callis joined the commentary team, adding to the atmosphere. Ospreay received a lot of love from the crowd, with plenty of singing and chanting in his favor. Ospreay and Fletcher kicked things off with a fast-paced exchange, and the action was intense right from the start. The crowd erupted in an “AEW” chant as everyone ended up on the mat after a flurry of moves. Ospreay and Fletcher traded hard chops, while Takeshita and Omega battled on the floor. Ospreay hit a massive DDT that got a huge reaction from the crowd.
Ospreay went for the Hidden Blade, but Callis interfered, grabbing his leg. The chemistry between Omega and Takeshita in the ring was electric. Omega nailed a brutal V-Trigger on Takeshita, but Fletcher and Takeshita fought back with double tombstone piledrivers. Despite the big moves, Ospreay and Omega kicked out, leading to the crowd chanting “Fight forever!” Takeshita managed to escape a One-Winged Angel, but Fletcher took advantage and attacked him. Omega sent Fletcher crashing to the floor with a rebound off the ropes. Ospreay then hit an insane dive over the buckles to the floor, taking out Fletcher. Back in the ring, Takeshita was taken down with a brutal One-Winged Angel/Ospreay Blade counter, and he was pinned for the win.
There was a big reaction when Harley was announced from Australia, with the crowd cheering loudly. Mercedes, on the other hand, received resounding boos as she made her entrance. It was clear who the crowd favorite was. The match was a back-and-forth battle. Harley went under the ring and pulled out the puppet, which clearly enraged Mone. The crowd erupted, chanting “Feel the Wrath” as Cameron took control. She hit a flying bodypress followed by a Destroyer, securing a near fall. Mone came back strong with a powerbomb and followed up with a Meteora off the ropes. When Cameron kicked out, the crowd let out a big roar. Cameron responded with a 619-style kick and climbed to the top rope, but she missed a swanton after Mone rolled out of the way. Mone quickly hit the Money Maker, securing the win to retain her title.
There were huge reactions for Cope as the match kicked off. Everyone brawled right from the bell, spilling out onto the floor, into the ring, and back out again. The action quickly moved into the audience, and Claudio and Cope fought. At one point, a table was pulled out on the floor, possibly by Moxley or White. Moxley then used a trash can to beat up White, and the crowd responded by chanting that White was a “wanker.” Cope then made a dive off the second level of the arena, soaring down to Claudio below in one of the entrance tunnels. Meanwhile, Moxley continued to wear out White on the floor. Cope attempted to suplex Moxley off the top through the table on the floor, but Marina Shafir interfered, attacking Cope. As a result, Cope ended up being sent through the table after a powerful Claudio powerbomb. Cope took some wild bumps throughout the match, really putting his body on the line.
The Death Riders then took control, with Claudio hitting the iconic big swing. After a few rotations, Moxley grabbed a trash can and smashed Jay White with it. It was White left alone, fighting against the odds as the numbers were stacked against him, while Cope tried to recover from the earlier assault. Cope made his return to the match, but White took control, destroying a kendo stick on Claudio. It seemed like White might pull off the win, but Wheeler Yuta intervened, attacking him with a belt. Meanwhile, Cope charged in, attempting to spear Claudio through a table. Copeland pulled a barbed wire-wrapped chair from under the ring and repeatedly nailed Moxley with it. He tried to set up a Conchairto, but Yuta snatched the chair away from him. Marina then struck Cope with a briefcase. Moxley locked in his choke hold while Claudio kept White from entering the ring. Cope fought it, but suddenly, the lights went out, and referee Bryce called for the bell. Moxley refused to release the hold, and the crowd erupted with a “Bullsh–!” chant.
May was heavily booed as she made her entrance. On the other hand, Toni Storm had a grand entrance, with Luther the Butler dressed as a theater usher, setting the stage for a big, theatrical buildup to Timeless Toni Storm’s arrival. They went straight at each other from the start, with Storm hitting some solid suplexes. The action spilled to the floor, where May whipped Toni hard into the barricades. Luther then arrived to assist Toni, but May quickly responded with a spinning backbreaker for a two-count. Storm returned, but Mariah hit Mayday on the floor. Storm made a comeback and nearly won with Storm Zero. May then hit a surprise Gutwrench suplex and followed up with Mayday multiple times. Storm kicked out just in time. May hit her own version of Storm Zero. Storm escaped Mayday, hit her finishing move, and pinned May to win the title!
