AEW Battle of the Belts XII, set for October 19, 2024, will feature an AEW Women's World Championship Eliminator Match between Anna Jay and Mariah May. This match follows a backstage altercation on October 16. More matches, including potential title defenses by Will Osprey and Jon Moxley, are expected to be announced.
The incident happened on the October 16 episode of AEW Dynamite, where May was expressing her frustrations in a backstage interview. That, however stopped, when Anna Jay made her presence known. The two of them got involved in a verbal spat, following which both of them started brawling shortly. Eventually, May raised her hand on Christopher Daniels, who tried to separate the two of them. Following this incident, AEW announced the match between these two wrestlers for their upcoming special, Battle of the Belts. Both these individuals have had a strong run recently, with Anna Jay securing multiple victories over the past couple of weeks. Mariah May has also had a strong run so far, and is coming off a title defense against Willow Nightingale at AEW WrestleDream.
It's been quite a week for All Elite Wrestling already, and it ain't over yet! After a landscape-shifting edition of DYNAMITE, and a tremendous night of action with RAMPAGE, AEW is right back at it with three hours of action for your Saturday night! We've got COLLISION, followed by BATTLE OF THE BELTS XII, and it's all filled with the best professional wrestling on the planet! For COLLISION, the AEW World Trios Championship will be on the line when Action Andretti & Top Flight challenge Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta, plus we will see The House of Black in trios action, AR Fox answering Ricochet's Open Challenge, Harley Cameron taking on Kris Statlander, Kyle Fletcher looking to even the score with Atlantis Jr., and The Outrunners taking on LFI of RUSH and The Beast Mortos!
Considering that this is just the first match, there are more matches that we'll be able to witness at AEW Battle of the Belts XII. While it's hard to predict which matches will be showcased for the event, it's likely that Will Osprey will invoke his rematch clause after he dropped the International Title to Konosuke Takeshita at Wrestle Dream. It's also possible that 4-time AEW Champion Jon Moxley will also be defending his title at the event, but it's unclear who his challenger will be. Bryan Danielson is currently out of commission, so it's unlikely that he'll make a return for this special and challenge for his title once again. It'll be interesting to see how the matches pan out to be once the event is aired.
