WWE Smackdown 5/15/26 edition will take place live from the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina. The 2026 edition of Backlash concluded last week in Tampa, Florida, and in the aftermath of the PLE, WWE will deliver the fallout show of Friday Night SmackDown.

Last week’s episode of SmackDown featured a six-woman tag team match pitting Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley versus Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid. This seemed like standard fare in WWE after a couple weeks of Fatal Influence getting called up to the main roster and running amok on SmackDown. Earlier in the show, Henley and Reid made it clear that they are coming for the WWE women’s tag team championship. Additionally, the show will also kick off the build towards the upcoming May 23 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, likely announcing matches for the show, which is now only a week away. WWE’s packed schedule for May also includes another PLE on May 31, Clash in Italy. As noted, tonight’s show will address the fallout from Backlash 2026, where Trick Williams defeated Sami Zayn to retain the United States title in a WrestleMania 42 rematch. On the other hand, Danhausen teamed up with Minihausen to defeat the team of Miz and Kit Wilson. Furthermore, fans can expect a match announcement for Saturday Night’s Main Event, after two matches were announced on the fallout show of Raw on Monday.

Additionally, after Paul Heyman revealed that the favor Gunther demanded was a WWE title match at Clash in Italy against Cody Rhodes, fans are anticipating an official announcement from WWE tonight in South Carolina. Paul Heyman no longer owes GUNTHER a favor after setting up a contract for his WWE championship match against Cody Rhodes at Clash In Italy. The only problem is that GUNTHER hasn’t signed the contract yet. Heyman says the onus is on Rhodes to find a way to get the Ring General to sign on the dotted line.
