The Road to WrestleMania 42 continues on the episode of WWE SmackDown 3/6/26 as the fallout from Elimination Chamber begins to reshape the blue brand. Friday night’s show comes live from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, where several major storylines will take another step toward WrestleMania.

The biggest match of the night sees Drew McIntyre defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes in a high-stakes showdown that could alter the WrestleMania main event picture. Elsewhere, newly crowned WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Lash Legend will celebrate their title victory, while a No. 1 contenders match will determine the next challengers for the WWE Tag Team Championships. The show will also feature a tense face-off between Jade Cargill and Rhea Ripley as their WrestleMania rivalry begins to heat up. The rivalry between Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes reaches another explosive chapter this Friday on WWE SmackDown. McIntyre created chaos at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026 in Chicago by interfering in the Men’s Chamber match, attacking Rhodes and seemingly eliminating him from the road to WrestleMania.

However, the plan backfired when Randy Orton struck with an RKO and ultimately won the brutal contest. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis refused to let McIntyre’s actions go unpunished. During the Elimination Chamber post-show, Aldis announced that the Scottish Warrior must earn his WrestleMania spot the right way by defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Rhodes. For nearly six months, the two superstars have battled relentlessly, each determined to claim the top prize. Now, their bitter feud could reach its decisive moment, with the winner moving one step closer to headlining WrestleMania 42.

On last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, the powerhouse duo pulled off the unthinkable by defeating the formidable team of Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. The match saw Ripley and SKY struggle to establish any rhythm as Jax and Legend overwhelmed them with brute strength and relentless offense. The victory stunned the WWE Universe, as two former world champions were dominated in convincing fashion. Riding the momentum of their massive triumph, Jax and Legend have announced a celebratory segment for this week’s show. The champions promise a huge celebration to mark the beginning of what they believe will be a dominant new era. However, with several teams eyeing the gold, their reign could face challenges sooner rather than later.

The Road to WrestleMania 42 heats up as Rhea Ripley prepares to confront Jade Cargill in a high-stakes face-off on WWE SmackDown. On the March 2 episode of WWE Raw, Ripley addressed the WWE Universe alongside Iyo Sky following the fallout from Elimination Chamber. Before shifting focus to her championship ambitions, Ripley reflected on her bond with SKY and encouraged her ally to continue leading the charge on Raw. Ripley then made a major announcement that instantly raised the stakes for the blue brand. The former champion revealed she would be heading to SmackDown to come face-to-face with Jade Cargill. With both powerhouses on a collision course and championship aspirations looming large, Friday’s confrontation could ignite the next major rivalry in the women’s division.
